HUFF & STAPES: NOT YOUR AVERAGE SHOCK JOCKS
If you're looking for the answer to your comedy needs, the hit podcast Huff & Stapes is it! "The show is an irreverent look at everything comedic. It's like drive time radio. But funny. At night. And on the Internet". It is one clever podcast and now their show is moving to the stage for live performances at the Jon Lovitz Club at Universal. We caught up with hosts Scott Huff and Joe Stapleton about how they catapulted themselves into the airwaves spotlight.
TROY BAKER: THE VOICE OF YOUR VIDEO GAMES
Every single one of us grew up playing video games. Some of us even play more video games now than we did it our youth, be it on our Xbox, Wii, or even iPhones! If you ever wondered what it would be like to be the voice behind your favorite video game heroes, wonder no more. We sat down with actor Troy Baker to chat about what it is like to voice some of the most well-known video game characters out there today. Your inner child has permission to jump for joy!
STAR PAWS DOG RESCUE
PPLA strives to "Get What Matters" to our audience and we like to highlight other members of the entertainment industry who do the same. Casting Director Victoria Burrows is one of them. We recently attended a fundraiser for her animal rescue organization Star Paws Rescue at Dark Del's in Burbank. The event brought out celebrities, industry execs, and animal lovers alike all for a good cause!
YOUR NEW FAVORITE BLUEGRASS-PUNK BAND
Old Man Markley is a band built on contradictions. First, they’re not “old.” Second, they’re bluegrass, but they’re also punk. Third, they’re high-energy enough to make the kids thrash around in a circle pit at a concert, but their music is so intricate and tight that even a music scholar could listen to an OMM song on repeat without getting sick of it.
THE SMILEY FACE & THE FROWN- ARTISTS EVENT
The thing I love about living in Los Angeles is the creative community. Artists and entertainers come together and find a way to express themselves through productions and performances. One group that has really impressed me in showcasing up & coming talent and giving back to their community is The Smiley Face & The Frown. This group has partnered with local hot spot Sheddy's Parlour for ongoing events the first Satuday of every month, beginning in February.
