IDOL: DOWN TO THE FINAL TWO
In a minor upset, Joshua Ledet was eliminated from American Idol last night creating a Jessica Sanchez/Phil Phillips sing-off for the American Idol crown. Ledet, the gospel singer from Westlake, Louisiana started off slowly in the contest and in fact was in the “Bottom 3”, and in danger of being eliminated twice. However, over the last five weeks his performances improved dramatically and he became the favorite of the American Idol judges.
THE ACADEMY'S SUMMER FILM SERIES BEGINS
On May 19 the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will inaugurate its new open-air venue with an invitation only screening of Field of Dreams, a fitting way to open any venue. The space includes a permanent 40 x 20 foot screen adjacent to a 10,000 square foot plaza. Beyond the summer, the venue will serve as a space for special screenings, educational programs, and other functions. Throughout the summer, audieces can view some of their favorite films under the stars!
IDOL: THE FINAL THREE SING 3
With internet rumors swirling that Jennifer Lopez will be leaving American Idol at the end of Season 11, tonight’s performance show will feature the remaining three contestants returning home for “Homecoming Week.” Tonight each contestant will perform three songs.The first song will be picked by the American Idol judges. The second song will be the contestant’s choice and the third song will be picked by American Idol mentor, Jimmy Iovine.
CANNES FILM FESTIVAL KICKS OFF, 65th YEAR
The film community will be out in force this weekend for the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival, one of the largest international film festivals in the world. Each year the festival brings together some of the biggest names in the industry in an appreciation of international cinema past, present, and future. The festival begins May 16th and runs through May 27th in Cannes, France.
